Hi, now that you’re back, the next big thing is getting enough time. I know it looks like you don’t have any time to go on vacation, but that’s not true. As a full-time student, you aren’t going to be able to do everything. But, let me break it down for you. You will never be able to get as much time off as you do when you are in school. One week of spring break? That’s all set. Summer break for three months? That’s done. You can go on a Thanksgiving break for a long weekend or for the whole week if you want. Does Winter break for 2 weeks to a month? That’s ago. If you add in weekends, that is a lot of time, even more so. how to travel as a broke college student

One way to get the most out of your weekends is to see if you can only take classes on Tuesday and Thursday, or if you can get Monday or Friday off entirely. I know it’s not possible for some majors to do this on a Friday afternoon (Chem lab anyone?). It’s still possible to do so. If you can, then try. This, of course, comes after you’ve taken care of the money.

It would be great if you could tell me how I used my student breaks. I went to New Zealand during spring break, Israel during winter break, Ireland during summer break, and a lot of US states on the weekends when I had time off from school, so It’s important to remember that you don’t always have to go somewhere exotic and far away to go on a trip. You can still go on vacation in your own backyard.

If you’re in college, there are many ways you can go on trips. 1. You can go to school outside of your country.
I know. Make sure you don’t quit on me right now. This isn’t new, but don’t. It is the best and simplest way for students to travel while they are still in college by going on a study abroad trip. I’m sure you’ve heard about it, but only 10% of students actually study abroad! Some things to remember:

Find your school’s study abroad office and check in with them.

I was shocked! I discovered a way to enjoy my morning coffee and fight the extra weight that was keeping me from seeing myself the way i wish!

What I love about it is that it is natural, Vegetarian, Non-GMO, Gluten free... Perfect for everyday use!

I felt a boost in my metabolism and amazingly, I didn't feel that much hungry as before!

Most colleges have their own study abroad departments. If you want to go on a trip or study abroad, look up their website and see if you can go to an information session. Staff in the study abroad office usually want to tell you how to study abroad, but you have to look for the information on your own. You want to find out which programs are available and what kind of study abroad programs are available to you. In order to understand how money works, you need to know this. For the same price as a regular semester at most schools, you can study abroad. For the same amount of money that you pay for a semester, you can spend a whole semester abroad! It’s the same, not more!

student travel as a college student: how to go on trips and study abroad in France, Europe, and the world.
France during my 2015 study abroad trip.
Do this when you are a new person. Here’s why…

People who study abroad have a hard time because the classes they need to take become more specialized as they go through their degrees, so they can’t take them abroad. You think I could have learned more about advanced instrumentation or quantum chemistry while I was away. No. The best time to study abroad is when you’re in your sophomore year when you still have to meet a lot of general requirements. Most of the time, you can find those kinds of classes when you go to another country. As long as you’re still in high school, don’t worry. In the fall of my junior year, I changed my schedule so that I could take classes that were specific to my minor (French). So, I had to study a lot of science in my other semesters, but I was still able to study abroad.

You can also look for specific programs in specific departments by looking at their websites and talking to your professors about them. The general study abroad office might not have as many resources for your field as the one for your field. I know that sounds scary. It’s time again for you to look for the information on your own. For example, when I went to study abroad, my program came directly from the Language department. In France, I went to a small town to learn the French language at a specialized language school. I was able to take the right classes for my level of language skills and earned the last credits I needed for my minor there, too.

TL;DR: Find study abroad information instead of waiting for it to come to you, and do so as soon as you can.

If you want to see more of your own state, do some research and become a tourist there.
I know you want to see the world. Hear me? As many fake international trips as I can remember, I’ve thought up more than I can remember. It’s not likely that you have the money to go on trips all the time as a student. When I went to New Zealand for spring break, I had to save for years to pay for it. In the meantime, you don’t have to stop going on vacations at all. Find out about yourself and what you can see. I went to school in Boston for a while, and I tried to use my weekends to see the city. I went to Faneuil Hall, the Public Garden, and the Freedom Trail, among other places, to see. There were some things I didn’t do as well as I should have, like not seeing the Grand Canyon in Arizona. I still saw Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon!

Here are a few ideas to get you going:

Instagram users can follow certain hashtags. #exploregeorgia is the hashtag I use for Georgia, which is where I live. discover north Georgia and only in Georgia
Same thing with travel accounts for your state, too!
Find bloggers who have written about your state or who live in your state and look for their blogs. A little more difficult: This one can be a little more difficult to do. One of my favorite blogs is Local Adventurer, where bloggers live in a place for a year in order to find local hidden gems and write about them.
For your state, make a bucket list. Make a real list when you find new things. A whiteboard in my kitchen has mine (because, why not).
Check out the big-ticket items, too! The Grand Canyon is a great place to visit. I say this as someone who lived an hour from the canyon for three years and never went.
Horseshoe Bend, college students traveling, local travel, and things to do in Arizona are some of the things you can do in Arizona.
At Horseshoe Bend, one of the few places I went to while at school in Arizona, this is me taking a picture.

DON’T WORRY ABOUT A ROAD TRIP.

Perhaps your own state isn’t up to par. 🙂 A road trip can help you get out of your own neighborhood. It was while I was living in Flagstaff, AZ, that I took short weekend road trips to see Zion and Bryce national parks, the Seven Magic Mountains in Nevada, and Montezuma’s Castle and Well in Arizona.

My weekend road trips now that I live in Georgia have taken me to New Orleans and Jekyll Island. I’ve also gone to the Great Smokies and Chattanooga, Tennessee.

ATTEND OR APPEAR AT CONFERENCES.

A lot of people don’t think that conferences are a good way to travel as a student. During my time as an undergraduate, I only went to one conference with my research group. That was the national meeting of the American Chemical Society in San Diego and I went with my group. My eyes were opened to everything. This is a big deal for students who like to go on trips. Your research advisor or department pays for you to stay, travel, and eat while you are away. When you join a research group and do the work to present at a conference, it’s the most difficult part (not every advisor will just let you attend a conference). Do some internet research to see if there are conferences in your field. If your academic field doesn’t do research, you might be able to find them. Your department might be able to let you go on a trip to show off your school, too. You’ll need to talk to your department before you go to learn about how to get reimbursed for your time and money. Most of the time, you’ll pay for things on your own, then get reimbursed. The more you spend on a travel credit card, the more points or miles you’ll get.

As a graduate student, this is one of the best ways to get around. During my trip to Ireland, I was there for a week-long meeting. I was able to spend my free time in Dublin. The conferences I’ve been to have taken place in Los Angeles, New York City, Washington DC, and Pittsburgh. In the same way, talk with your advisor again. They should know which major conferences are important to your field. If you get a fellowship, you might also have to go to a certain conference. That would be a win-win. Money and a paid trip to a conference!

Ireland, things to do in Ireland, a road trip from Dublin to the cliffs of Moher in Ireland
It was a trip to the Cliffs of Moher that we took on a day trip while we were in Ireland before the conference.
A conference can make it hard to fit in some exploring, but if you want to make it your goal, there’s no reason not to. As an introvert, I get very tired after being “on” for a conference. Still, I know that if I want to explore, I have to really push myself to get out there and do it. I have to make myself do it. Sometimes, it’s hard to keep going, but I’ll never forget it. The only person I was with at a conference in Washington DC was me, so I had to find that drive inside of me. When I got home from the conference, I was able to go straight to the National Mall, where I had to walk through a snowstorm to see the monuments. I even found a city-wide snowball fight! Cool!

LEARN ABOUT TRAVEL HACKING, as well.

People who use travel hacking have a lot to say about it, so I’m not going to go into it very deeply right now. If you are careful with your money, travel hacking can be a great way to travel for cheap. The internet is a good place to find out how to use travel credit cards to travel for free (or cheap). Check out Scott’s Cheap Flights, which is a site that looks for cheap flights. If you want to go on a trip, don’t let the fact that they charge to join scare you away. After you book one deal, the fee will be worth it. You can check out Groupon to see if there are any deals on full travel packages there that you can get.

 Find specialized friends.

This is where things get more difficult. Did you know that there are fellowships that will pay for you to go to a different country to learn something? Let me show you. Travel is, of course, my number one priority. I was on an email blast my first semester of grad school that talked about the Chateaubriand Fellowship. I learned more about it. This fellowship was set up by the French Embassy to help people from the US and France work together on a variety of research projects. To my advisor, I sent it right away. I told him I wanted to do it. In his first year, he said that wasn’t the best time for me. Let’s go back to it next year. Well, I kept it and made a lot of notes to make sure I didn’t forget to talk about it again a year from now. So when I did, I applied for the job, and I got the job, too! Moral of the story: Keep an eye out for chances like that, and don’t be afraid to talk about them with your research advisor. Again, if the changes don’t come to you, you have to look for them. Check out this page for some ideas on how to start.

TAKE A LOOK INTO A SEMESTER WHILE AT SEA.

It was my dream that never came true. Suite Life on Deck really made me hate this place. Semester at Sea is just like that. During one semester at sea, you can take classes and go on trips around the world. You can go to places like Hawaii and Japan as well as places like China and Vietnam. A lot of things: Check with your school’s study abroad office to see if this is an option for your school. how to travel as a broke college student

Online classes.

If you have a semester where you only need general classes, try to take the classes online. If you do this, you’ll be able to go anywhere and be a student from anywhere. For me, being a STEM major made this impossible. If you can do it, well done!

Before you go on a trip, do your research to make the most of your money.
The best time to go on vacation is when it’s not busy. How the off-season looks in different places might surprise you. It could be a good idea to go to a place when it’s not in peak season. So when you have a summer break in the United States, it actually winters in New Zealand, which isn’t a good time to go on a trip. how to travel as a broke college student

STAY SOMEWHERE RISK-FREE.

If you’re willing to help out a little, you can stay with locals for free. Cleaning the house, helping with simple farm work, talking to kids in English, or even cooking and shopping for food can be some of the work that people do. if you do a lot of work for someone else, they will let you stay at their house for free. A meal may be served from time to time, and most of the time, the work is done for 3-5 hours a day during the week. Check out these websites for more. how to travel as a broke college student
