The first step in treating oily skin is to develop a daily skincare routine that works for you.

Once you’ve established this as a habit, you might wish to add other, less frequent stages to your routine, such as those listed below.

Blotting papers should be used.

The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) recommends using blotting papers to reduce excess oil if your skin appears to shine all day.

Gently press the paper against your skin for a few seconds to accomplish this. This should aid in the absorption of the majority of the oil. As needed, repeat throughout the day.

After you’ve completed your workout, wash your hands.
The AAD recommends cleaning your face after exercise in addition to your morning and nighttime routines. If you don’t plan on showering anytime soon, this is very vital.

Sweat, oil, and filth that may accumulate on your face when exercising can be removed by washing your face.

This does not need to be a complicated four-step procedure. Apply a little layer of moisturizer after washing your face with your regular cleanser.

The sooner you can do this following your workout, the better.

Make intelligent product choices.
Dr. Adarsh Vijay Mudgil, the founder of Mudgil Dermatology in New York City, advises choosing skincare products carefully.

“Avoid alcohol-containing items, as they can produce an unexpected rise in oil secretion.” Also, stay away from anything thick or greasy, such as cocoa butter, shea butter, or Vaseline,” he advises.

CeraVe and Neutrogena’s foamy face cleansers are two of his faves.
